Can I deploy my Win 8 app to a Win8.1 Surface RT remotely? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I try to deploy my Win 8 App from VS2012 (on Windows 8.1) to a WinRT device running Windows 8.1 with the latest Remote Debugger, Visual Studio 2012 is unable to connect saying Remote Connection taking too long. Both machines on same subnet and on the same homegroup.

    Is this configuration allowed?

If it is allowed, how to I change the Remote Device parameters in Visual Studio. Once I setup a device it doesn't seem to ask me again, how do I change to a different Remote device?

  • I think the answer to the first question is NO, you can't remote debug a Windows 8 app using a VS2013 Remote Debugger.

Secondly, to change remote debugger, open the project properties (Right Click on .csproj file and select Properties). and change the Startup Options. Refer to this link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/hh781607(v=vs.110).aspx for more details.
