Mail Merge - Group and subtotal by 2 keys RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a mail merge document this is grouped by 2 keys.  This works wonderful.  Now I need to take it 1 step further and subtotal  each group.  I saw an example where it grouped by 1 key with 1 subtotal.  Can anyone assist me?

  • I have been commissioned by a number of people to modify the addin that I created and that can be downloaded fromthe following page of fellow MVP Graham Mayor’s website:

    http://www.gmayor.com/ManyToOne.htm

to do that sort of thing.  You can have a go at it yourself, or I am available to be engaged to do it for you, in which case, you would need to send me a sample of the data and the document in which you want the data arranged and totalled.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Kfainter,

You can use Word's Catalogue/Directory Mailmerge facility for this (the terminology depends on the Word version). To see how to do so with any mailmerge data source supported by Word, check out my Microsoft Word Catalogue/Directory Mailmerge Tutorial at: http://lounge.windowssecrets.com/index.php?showtopic=731107
    or
    http://www.gmayor.com/Zips/Catalogue%20Mailmerge.zip
Do read the tutorial before trying to use the mailmerge document included with it.

There are examples in the tutorial for using two keys and also for calculating group record counts and totals. The two approaches could be combined to provide group & sub-group subtotals & totals.
