Problem with saving custom domain for static website hosted on Azure blob storage RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having the same issue with Storage Accounts.

I've tried both ways (using indirect and not using indirect) and I always get the same error:

Failed to update storage account 'challengestarsdev'. Error: The custom domain name could not be verified. CNAME mapping from game.challenge-stars.com to any of challengestarsdev.blob.core.windows.net,challengestarsdev.z16.web.core.windows.net does not exist.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • I solved it. I was using CloudFlare, had to disable the HTTP Proxy (by clicking on the Orange Cloud next to the CName DNS entry). Then wait about 5 min and then it worked. Afterwards you can re-enable the HTTP Proxy.

  • Yeah I have, it's the same thread I posted this question stating I had tried both solutions, before this thread was created.

    In portal.azure.com:

    1) Select the Storage Account (it's a StorageV2)

    2) Select Custom Domain

    3) Enter the domain name (game.challenge-stars.com)
    - I have "game" setup as a CNAME alias for challengestarsdev.blob.core.windows.net

    4) Click Save

    Throws the following error:

Failed to update storage account 'challengestarsdev'. Error: The custom domain name could not be verified. CNAME mapping from game.challenge-stars.com to any of challengestarsdev.blob.core.windows.net,challengestarsdev.z16.web.core.windows.net does not exist.

I've also tried doing the "Use indirect CNAME validation" route... with the same errors.
