USB Topology Compatibility Test Failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am running the USB Topology Compatibility Test, then applies all those topologies manually.

But I got failed error only on this topology, EHCI->HighSpeed Hub->Full Speed Hub -> DUT

Error says: DUT not detected behind Full Speed Hub Speed Hub behind EHCI.

Note that I already performed this instruction, "Connect a high speed hub to an EHCI root port. Connect a full speed hub to a downstream port of the high speed hub. Connect the DUT to a downstream port of the full speed hub."

    What seems to be wrong?

  • Hi

For the USB Topology test, please follow all test scenario below.

    1.EHCI+DUT (USB2 port +Device)

    2.EHCI+HS HUB+DUT (USB2 port+USB2 Hub+Device)

    3.EHCI+HS HUB + FS HUB+DUT (USB2 port+USB2 Hub+USB1 Hub+Device)

    4.XHCI+DUT (USB3 port+Device)

    5. XHCI+SS HUB+DUT  (USB3 port+USB3 Hub+Device)

    6. XHCI + HS HUB +DUT (USB3 port+USB2 Hub+Device)

In the case, you are testing fail on test item-3, please check you are using USB2 controller->USB2 Hub->USB1 Hub->USB Device

You can find USB2 hub, USB1 hub from http://www.usb.org/kcompliance/view/catalog_search/results_browse/process?step%3Aint=2&referring_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.usb.org%2Fhome&categories=&category_text=&profile=&keywords=Full+Speed&submit=Go

    Thanks, Steve

    Hi Steve,

I have a little question about the USB topology compatibility test.

Is there any message when I plug the USB device to the hub?

    Or

Test will automatically end and show the message after I do all test scenario?

    Thanks

    Blake

  • The kit will open a USB Device Viewer, you cab check that if your device has been detected in USB Device Viewer.

And the test will automatically end if all six topologies has been completed in the same test run.

    Thanks, Josh

  • Hi Josh,

    Thanks for your help.

Do you mean I won't get any message until I finishing 6 topologies?

  • Hi Blake,

Yes. You don't have any error or warning messages until 6 topologies test are finished.

If the all of the senarios passes after the 6th scenario, the job automatically finishes.

If you have an error on any topology,  it does not finish and the job windows are still opened.

    Thanks
