Certifying Java Application - JRE on Server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are in the process of trying to get a Java Application certified for Windows Server 2008 and I cannot find any existing information on Java Applications.  2 questions that I have is:

    1)  Does Windows Server 2008 come pre-installed with a JRE?  (What version?)

    2)  If we need to install a JRE as part of our package, do we have to sign the java binaries such as java.exe, jvm.dll, etc?  Does anyone know if there are existing JREs with signed executables already?

Will appreciate any help I can get as this is somewhat urgent!

    Hi,

Please find my updates on your issues.

    1.       As per my knowledge you have to install it separately.

    2.       All executables that you are using as part of your package must be signed. However if 3rd party binaries cannot be acquired with valid file version information or signatures, these can be documented to test vendor and for your Customers.

    Hope the above helps.

    Thanks
