Issue in database Mirroring endpoints RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi..

I am using sql server 2008 with sp3. I have two instance of sql server on a server i. e. one is default instance and another is named instance and both instances are mirror servers in database mirroring.

Normally in a single instance of sql server , we use only one endpoint for database mirroring.

Can we use same endpoint like 5023 for database mirroring(on mirror server) in both instances of sql server in a window server ?.

    Pls suggest me.......

  • Two instances in a single server are involved in mirroring. You cant use same endpoint then.

I would like to know what is the purpose of running principal and mirror on same server. We are defeating the Mirroring purpose in this case.

  • no as communication is done with the port number you cannot have same port for principle and mirroring databases
