Windows Server 2012 R2 Architectural Implementation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We need to design and implement an architectural structure of Windows environment for one of our clients. This architecture should consist of one parent/main domain (domain1.com). This domain environment/servers will have DNS, Web Server IIS, Mail Server, etc. Our client needs to have 3 child domains in this parent domain. The child domains could be as mentioned below:
     Child 1 (child1.domain1.com) - Support functions / Users
     Child 2 (child2.domain1.com) - Sales & Marketing
     Child 3 (child3.domain1.com) - BPO Team

    The constraints are:
     1) The Administrators of any of these child domains should not be able to access the other child domains (for e.g. child1.domain1.com Admin should not have access to child2.domain1.com, child3.domain1.com and domain1.com domains).
     2) All the users in respective child domains should not be able to access other child domains, but they should be able to access data from the parent domain, domain1.com (such as DNS, Web Server IIS, Mail Server, etc).
     3) The Administrator of domain1.com should be able to access all the child domains.

Is it possible to achieve this architecture on one physical server with Windows Server 2012R2?

Apart from child and parent domains environment, is this scenario possible using any other method?

Expecting your expertise opinion on this matter. Thanking you in anticipation!
