  • You can disable versioning at the sharepoint-list level, by going to the list settings and turn off versioning

For sites like publisher portals versioning is enabled by default. I doubt for publisher portals whether you can disable versioning at the site-level

  • Where in site settings can you turn off versioning for the whole site?

  • Whoops, I meant to indicate the Document Library settings.

I happened to use sharepoint designer, navigate to the document library, then right click on it and select "properties"

Then on the Settings tab I changed the "Use Version History" to "No Versioning"

    Yipee!

  • 1) No need to do it in SPD.  That is a basic settings in every document library, which can be done in the browser.

    2) That is not a global change.

    3) Just because you partially answered your own question doesn't mean you answered the original question

    4) You cannot propose your own answers.  A moderator already unproposed you once, but then you did it again.

Please do not propose your own posts as answers. It is not helpful.

Propose the good answers of other people but wait for someone else to propose yours.
