LINQ querybuilder? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm new to LINQ but have been building complex queries to SQL Server for years using the QueryBuilder inside the DataSet builder inside Visual Studio.  I would never write a complex query by hand.  So, is the such a builder for LINQ?
    Thanks,

  • Visual Studio doesn't include any such builder for LINQ.

You'll find that you need it less so with LINQ, though. For a start, LINQ to SQL gives you association properties, so you won't have to worry about joining tables. LINQ is also a richer querying language than SQL in most scenarios so your queries are often much smaller.

Also, LINQ lets you get shaped data back. It might be quite awkward modeling this in a visual designer.
