Item.getSelectedDataAsync is undefined / doesn't exist (Mail apps) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm trying to use Item.getSelectedDataAsync under "Read" mode for my Mail app:

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/dn903177.aspx

but it doesn't seem to work. I've used exactly the sample code provided and its giving me undefined for the method, as if it doesn't exist.

I'm using Office version 1.1 for both javascript api and schema. I'm specifying "ReadItem" for my permission (as stated in the documentation) and testing on OWA over chrome.

    Thanks in advance!

    Lace

  • Unfortunately, it's not supported in read mode yet, only in compose. MSDN help is wrong on this (it also says that setSelectedDataAsync is supported in read which is obviously wrong too). I will ping the documentation folks to correct it. We are considering adding support for getSelectedDataAsync in read mode as well. BTW we have new page on User Voice (http://appsforoutlook.uservoice.com/) where ideas and feature requests could be submitted.
