Local Profiles not being deleted on Logoff RRS feed

  • Question

  • I seem to be having an issue where local profiles are not always being deleted at Logoff; which then results in second and third etc... local profiles being created at next login.  Example below.

    local_johndoe

    local_johndoe1

    local_johndoe2

    local_johndoe3

I have opened a case with Microsoft but they are unable to figure out issue. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

This is usually due to some process hanging on until the very last bit of logoff. This of course keeps an open handle and with an open handle to a file in the \local_<username> folder it can't be deleted.

    • The older local_<username> (should be the lowest numbers ones) can be deleted manually anytime.
    • If you look in those folders there may be a clue to which program is not closing properly (if this is the cause of the issue; it usually is but can't say 100% of the time.)
    • These old folders really shouldn't cause an issue other than space used.
    • They should be deleted at the next logon or logoff by FSLogix. Are you on the latest version: https://aka.ms/fslogix_download (2.9.7117......)
    • If Citrix is involved they have a setting to take care of this: LogoffCheckSysModules (https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX138138).

Let us know what you find.
