Ideal Data Format for Proper Dashboarding RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

I am fairly new to the world of Power BI so my apologies if this has already been answered in other topics.  Essentially I have an Excel spreadsheet of data that I would like to use (or if its better, pump into a database and connect directly to the database) to create a dashboard that will allow us to examine past trends and predict future trends.  The spreadsheet contains a tab for each fiscal year of data (I also have a summary tab that contains all of the fiscal years side by side).  Each fiscal year of data is set up as follows:  Column A: Name of Stat, column B: values for April, column C: values for May, column D: values for June, etc...

What I would like to do is set up the data in a way that would allow me to quickly and easily create the dashboards, while also allowing me to add future fiscal years/months as we continue to navigate our crazy world :)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
