Reverse Geocode Can't get place of far places RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using "Find a Location by Point" to retrieve the nearest city from a given coordinate. So far so good, except with a couple of coordinates:

43.049651,-106.561203 -> Nearest city: Casper, Wyoming

46.24631,-94.888744 -> Nearest city: Staples, Minnesota

The response I get is a rooftop. Both points share the fact that they are quite far of any city.

Is there a way to open up how far to look, or just get the area where the point is located (i.e. the state)?

  • Being a Rooftop result is fine. The key value to look at is the EntityType which is a postal code. If you look at the Address you will be able to get the state.

  • At first the response from the API didn't had the postal code information, which was weird. Then I identified my issue, I set up "includeEntityTypes" to include only Address and CountryRegion, by removing this optional parameter it returned the data that I needed. Thanks for the insight.
