Excel "Serialization" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'd like to "spill" a big amount of data to an excel worksheet. (through a VS project)
My data is stored in a List<double> object.

What do I have to do? thanks

  • This is not actually a VSTO question, but the topic has come up a number of times in the forum...

You basically have two choices for efficiently writing the data: using Excel as a database (the closed file) or writing to the open workbook. You appear to want the latter. In that case, see this KB article.

For the other, you set up a standard OLE DB connection with ADO.NET. If you want to pursue that, please ask in the ADO.NET forum.

I'm moving the message thread to an ADO.NET forum. They should be able to help you get connected, there, but if you have problems working with the actual workbook contents they may need to pass you on to another, more Excel-centric venue. Good luck!
