Orphaned Integration Runtime - Azure Data Factory v2

    Question

  • I created an ADF v2 with an Integration Runtime for running SSIS packages as a POC, then later deleted the resource group and all resources.  It appears as though the IR is still present as I see the resource "integrationRuntime1" continue to show as running (and consuming Azure credits) despite the fact that the Resource Group and associated ADF instance have been removed.  Currently, my MSDN subscription in Azure is suspended since there are no credits left for this month.

I've tried to delete the resource via powershell and through the API in the help docs (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/datafactory/integrationruntimes/delete) but I only receive error messages (either "forbidden" or "resource group doesn't exist").

Is there a way to delete the integration runtime when the resource group and associate ADF are already gone?

  • Hello,

Is your IR still stuck?  Could you try to stop it first:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/datafactory/integrationruntimes/stop

You mentioned you were getting errors trying to access it, since the Resource Group and the factory are deleted, but I thought it might be worth a shot.  The delete function is greyed out in the UI if the IR is still running, so stopping may get you a step closer if it responds.

How are you detecting the IR if the Resource Group and factory are deleted?  I have been trying to replicate this myself.
