Model over multiple databases RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I really need your help. I am trying to create a model over two databases. The databases are on the same server. I already read some hints in other older post about creating a view in the entity model or linked tables. But for me, as a beginner with ef, it´s hard to understand how to implement that.

Do you have any hints, tipps and tricks, HowTos, step by step instruction, examples or links that can help me?

    best regards

  • Hi,

You can't create a model over two databases, a model is fixed to one database.

What I suspect that you have read is to create views in one of the databases which maps the tables from your other database and then import this. This is not a good solution.

I would advice you to have two seperate models. One for each database, then you can join the result from both of them afterwards if neccessary.
