Directions Japan RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using the AJAX map control 7.0 and trying to get the directions work in Japan.
I've even tried using the REST service with no luck.

I can get results but the waypoints from the Directions module or REST are way off from the actual ones you get from bing maps site.

Lets say I try Driving/Walking from Shinosaka station to Umeda the bing maps site shows fairly straight line to umeda station. Now where as the directions module makes a huge leap to right and then keeps going on the river.

I've also tried other countries where the directions work as they should.

Is the directions module closed from public use in Japan?

  • Ok, talking with the routing team the issue is that we have access to higher quality data on our consumer site but don't have the rights to use that data in our B2B API's at this time. As such we fall back to lower fidelity data which comes from our primary data provider, NAVTEQ.

  • I can reproduce this. I'm checking with our routing team to see what's causing this.
