Windows 2012 multiple IP in NIC resolve in different order than 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an application on a Windows 2012, and the behavior of the ip/port binding on Windows Server 2008 is different from Windows Server 2012. I have three IP addresses configured on a NIC 192.168.209.56, 192.168.209.57 and 192.168.209.58 respectivelly. When I start my application Windows Server 2008 (it listen to the port 9088), it binds to 192.168.209.56:9088, but if I have the same setup on Windows Server 2012 it binds to 192.168.209.58:9088. As the application is exactly the same, I wonder that Windows 2012 resolves differently the IP address when you bind a port. It causing me a issue as when I try to connect to the application by the host name it tries to connect to 192.168.209.56:9088 and it fails.

Can anyone help me figure out if it changed in Windows Server 2012?
