How to List Registry subkeys within Internet Explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All

I need to enumerate registry sub keys within a specific key. After searching i have found that i can use "CreateObject" to create an instance of "
WScript.Shell" and use RegRead, RegWrite and RegDelete , but there is no way to list subkeys of a specific key. The other way is to use WMI Objects with Win32_Registry like what this link shows http://www.activexperts.com/activmonitor/windowsmanagement/adminscripts/registry/#ListRegFiles.htm

But it doesn't run, it shows "ActiveX component can't create object: 'GetObject'" and According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239470 You can't run GetObject from within Internet Explorer, so i am not able to use it.

So in short i need to do this from anything that runs within a browser (JScript, VBScript or JavaScript)

I am waiting for your feedback.

    Thanks in advance.

You can't do this in IE.  Could you image the fun a malicious website could have if this could be done?

Why would you want do this from IE anyway?  Can you not host the code in an HTA instead?  That doesn't have the IE restrictions but does need to be 'installed' on the machine.
