HCK - host firewalls must disable Windows Firewall, during install or at run-time RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Running the new HCK (8.1) I get the following error. Google comes up with no results, so maybe someone here can shed some light. My driver is a callout driver, injects (sometimes) data to HTTP packets. Never blocks any packets (so is not a firewall).

The Dut is windows 8.1 (x64)

INFORMATION : Marking RunJob Task "RunJob - REQ - Host
firewalls must disable Windows Firewall, during install
or at run-time, by turning off the NET_FW_RULE_TYPE_" As
Failed as the LibraryJob "REQ - Host firewalls must
disable Windows Firewall, during install or at run-time,
by turning off the NET_FW_RULE_TYPE_FIREWALL category and
must not turn off the NET_FW_RULE_TYPE_CONSEC category
when calling Windows Firewall’s ‘Register’ Interface."
    has Failed

    Thanks

    Menachem

  • Yes.  The Windows Firewall should be enabled.  The expectation is that your WFP product will work in the presence of Windows Firewall.  If your product replaces functionality of the Windows FIrewall (i.e. its a firewall too), then the appropriate category is taken rather than disabling the firewall, or shutting off the MPSSvc service (which prohibits more than just the Firewalling).

    Hope this helps,

  • When you are running the HCK, is  MPSSvc stopped?  Is the Windows Firewall set to disabled?
