Live streaming - How to play the preview url RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am doing a project with Azure Media services live streaming. I have a problem playing the preview url, I tried different online players and none of them seem to work.

Does anyone know if there is any online player available that can play the preview URL? I want to check if I am streaming correctly before starting the actual live streaming event.

I have no problem playing the actual streaming url, it plays perfectly in the Azure Media player.

  • You can use Azure Media Player http://amp.azure.net/libs/amp/latest/docs/ .

However, you might still hit an issue. Currently Azure Media Player uses either Flash or Silverlight to play the preview URL and some browsers blocks Flash and Silverlight content. Please make sure your browser is configured to allowed to play Flash or Silverlight before trying.

  • The preview stream is available only via the Smooth Streaming protocol, which is why you'd likely have trouble with other players.

You can make your ask (support for viewing preview stream in HLS/DASH) at https://feedback.azure.com/forums/169396-media-services?query=preview, and we'd be able to track this

  • Hi, thanks for your response.

I created a request on the feedback forum. But this does me not help with my current problem. I cannot find any online smooth streaming player that is able the preview url. Most players that I tried respond with an error code and others complain about not having enough video available.

Can you recommend an online smooth streaming player that can play the preview url?
