Query window show geography is an invalid datatype RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using the SQL 2008 November CTP.

    Something as simple as:

    DECLARE @g geography;

    has the red squiggly line underneath with the error “Parameter or variable ‘@g’ has an invalid data type.”

    It executes just fine but I don’t see the red line on any of the webcasts.  Do they just have their correction turned off or do I have something wrong with mine?

    Anyone else getting this?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • Hi Matt,

    This issue with Management Studio Intellisense will be fixed in the next CTP.  Geography will no longer be recognized as an invalid data type.

  • Thanks for the quick reply.

    Any word on when the next CTP may come out?  I'm on the Heroes Community Launch team for our .Net users group and will be demonstrating the spatial features of SQL 2008.

    Thanks,
    Matt
