Accessing Sharepoint Documents from Windows Explorer on the server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having trouble getting at my sharepoint server interface within our network as our domain administrator server was taken offline, that's another forum post problem too. But in the interim I want to move the documents stored in sharepoint to a hosted version we are using. Is there an easy way to access all the documents within Sharepoint from the server running it?

  • hi petanque,

    you can use either

    1- explorer view . or
    2- Using WebDAV

The Windows Explorer also provides a built-in method for connecting to SharePoint
libraries through the WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning) protocol.
    follow these steps:
    1. Open Windows Explorer, and click My Network Places.
    2. Double-click Add Network Place.
    3. Click Next.
    4. Select the Choose Another Network Location option, and click Next.
    5. Type the URL to the document library in SharePoint Server 2007 (for example,
http://contoso.msft/projects/documents), and click Next. (You might be
prompted for a user name and password.)
    6. Type in a name for the connection, and click Next.
    7. Click Finish.
