Loading the a DLL as kernel mode at run-time RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to load a DLL as kernel mode at run-time?

Currently, we are loading our DLL as built-in driver so it loads at boot-up time right away.

Problem is that it is inconvenient to always reboot the system every time we have a new version of the DLL while debugging.

What I would prefer is to be able to just load/unload this DLL at run-time.

My worry is that if I do will the DLL be always loaded as User Mode? Or will it always load as kernel mode as long as the "K" flag is there in .bib file when compiling the image.

BTW, is there a quick way to know which DLLs are running in kernel and user mode at run-time? For example some Target Control command to call. Thanks
