How to paste plain text or remove formatting in Rich Text Editor RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to put the contents of a .doc I've been provided into a Content Editor Web Part.  How do I paste as plain text into the Rich Text Editor so that I can then apply styles within the RTE? I don't see anyway to do that, or to remove formating from a selection.

  • In that case, take tip #2. Copy the contents to Notepad. It'll get rid of every bit of html tags and give you "TRUE" plain text.

    BTW, there's also an option in CEWP editor to clear formats. Select the contents and then click on the style button. There should be an option that will reset the formatting to CEWP's default. I think it's called remove inline styles. You can try that out too.

  • Use the Clear Formatting feature from MS Word. Just select the content and then click on "Clear formatting" button.

    Another option could be copy and paste the content into Notepad. Then copy the content from Notepad to the CEWP.

  • Thank you for that tip, but when I paste the "cleared" content from the .docx document into the Content Editor in SP, then apply headings, and "normal" on the body copy , when I look at the rendered source code I still see this:

    <h2 class=MsoNormal>

    Maybe it's no bid deal, but it drives me crazy to have that extra junk in there.

  • Hi,

    According to your description, you want to paste copy texts to word or Rich Text Editor without formatting. I suggest that you should have a try to use this 3rd party tool called PureText. For more information, please have a check this blog:
