Webcam problem on MSN Live Messenger RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm experiencing webcam problem on msn live 8.0. After reading some forums and threads, I am wondering if my problem does lie within msn live msger itself, rather than my webcam and/or Internet connection. I'm residing in Asia and starting two days ago, my webcam on msn live msger keeps freezing at some point and shuts off by itself, while the other party's webcam is still functioning. At first I thought it was my built-in webcam's problem (on my laptop), but when I was chatting with my webcam on my desktop at my office the next day, the same thing keeps happening. I also used ccleaner to clean/fix my laptop and desktop, but it is still happening. The weird thing is, I've been using live msger since it came out on msn's website and I use my webcam a lot and this was never such a problem until two days ago. I even uninstalled the live msger before i used ccleaner to fix all that registry thing and then re-installed the live msger afterwards. it didn't do any good. I don't know why my webcam keeps shutting off by itself. Anybody got an idea? I am desperate for a solution… sigh.

  • It's not your webcam ... it's MSN.  I've been chatting with my daughter in England .... non-stop ... for the past 3 weeks.  All of a sudden, just a few days ago, MSN starts freezing up.  I know it's not my computer, because the same thing happens on my laptop.  Same thing's happening to my other daughter as well.  No, it's NOT our internet provider, because the daughter I've been chatting with is in England and she's been having the same problem.  We got fed up and continued our conversations on Google Talk - no problems there.  Hey, Bill Gates, DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to make your programmes actually WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Or, maybe, just maybe, you're bugging up MSN because you're about to introduce a better one in which we will have to PURCHASE!!!  And of course, we'll be so fed up of this ***, that we may just do that!  Is that the plan?  FORGET IT

  • Hi mate, cool down firstly. It is very important to talk to your daughter as I have noticed they way you reacted with this problem. So I’m here to solve your problem. I have tired everywhere for a solution nothing worked. Then I tried installing the latest software and drivers for my webcam which seemed to fix the problem. Make sure to do this on your computer and your daughter’s computer. This should help I hope.

Actually latest drivers do not solve the issue for everyone, I too talk to my kids from the USA to the UK and have had continous problems for months now, It is more to do with the code in MSN than the drivers for Microsoft webcams. I have tried 3 different Microsoft Webcams and all have the same result, however Logitech and Yahoo Messenger work fine but logitech on MSN forget it. Same with other brands of webcams on MSN so this gives even more weight to the fact it is not a driver issue.
