Availabity of Resource base capacity data in Project server database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Folks,

Am looking for a resource base capacity data in reporting database, and I find that in dbo.MSP_EPMResourceByDay table. But the problem is the data is available for only two years i.e., current year and next year. Am using the standard calendar for the resources.

Please let me know if there are any available settings that I have to do to get the data for at least next 25 years.

    Thanks

    Cheers,

    Amit

  • Hello,

This can be changed in PWA > PWA Settings > Additional Server Settings > Resource Capacity Settings.

Not sure you will get 25 years though - from memory I think it is limited to 3 years in each setting.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the way. I have set it to "Months Behind" as 12 and "Months After" as 24. One quick question, after how much time will the change get affected in the reporting database as I don't see any queue jobs initiated/running ?

  • Hello,

It runs once a day by default based on a SharePoint timer job - check tomorrow and it should be there.

  • Hi,

    Thanks Paul.

If we want to calculate the resource utilization for more then 3years i.e., for 5years then how can we do it without the resource base capacity data ?

  • You can get 3 years in the past and 3 years in the future via the Reporting DB based on the settings used. If you want more then you might be able to get more from the API (PSI) as this will get the data from another source but it is stored as a binary image in the databases I believe. Also the other sources are not supported to be queried using T-SQL, you have to use the API's or PWA / Project Pro.

5 years is a long way in the future for resource utilization - most clients we work with probably only need 6 months to a year at most as requirements change so frequently.

  • Thanks for the Information. The current client of mine would need to see the custom resource utilization report (there is an OOB also which uses PSI I guess) for min 5 years in the future as they plan the project for 5 years as well.

Will suggest for OOB one for long duration. Hope they agree !!
