Transactional Replication Subscriber is unable to catchup after 2 days RRS feed

  • Question

  • SUbscriber is stopped for 2 days due to SAN problem & restarted.Unable to catch up replication ,as undisributed commands are more than 20000000.

    Using SQL SERVER 2008

Getting error message(DIStributor to subscriber history)

    Error messages:

The replication agent has not logged a progress message in 10 minutes. This might indicate an unresponsive agent or high system activity. Verify that records are being replicated to the destination and that connections to the Subscriber, Publisher, and Distributor are still active.

    Any help is highly appreciated

  • You might want to drop the subscription from b to c, and then recreate it.

  • run profiler on the subscriber to see what is going on there. Also run sp_who2 to see if there are any blocked processes. This will tell you if any activity is going on there, and if the replication process is being blocked. If it is see if you can kill the user process and perhaps kick active users off the subscriber until replication can catch up.

It might be also faster just to reinitialize.

  • Thanks for your reply.Ran the profiler & didn't find any trace regarding replication.

    There is no blocking

I restarted the job in subscriber,it is showing "Intializing"(Distributor to subscriber history)  for some time & getting the error:

The replication agent has not logged a progress message in 10 minutes. This might indicate an unresponsive agent or high system activity. Verify that records are being replicated to the destination and that connections to the Subscriber, Publisher, and Distributor are still active.

  • Does profiler say what is going on?

  • You should see replication stored procedures firing inside profiler - they will look like this:

    sp_MSdel_dboTableName

    sp_MSins_dboTableName

    sp_MSupd_dboTableName
