How to choose Linux & Hyper-V ? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Recently, I need Linux for some reason.
I tried CentOS 5.3 in Hyper-V (1.0) with the reference
    http://www.jules.fm/Logbook/files/win2008_linuxic_rc2_rhel.html
But after kernel and Start Menu installed, I can't enter my system any longer.

    What shall I do now?

    Is
there a better Linux(free)? And, could Hyper-V 2.0 support it better?

    Thanks.

  • HI , T. J. Walia

     Thank you for your reply.

Problem has been solved. I have upgraded to Hyper-V R2 (+ Linux Integration Components for Microsoft Hyper-V 2.0 (RC2) ). CentOS 5.3 is running stable.

    That problem is Hyper-V 1.0, CentOS 5.3 + Linux Integration Components for Microsoft Hyper-V 1.0 (not 2.0)

In that article (http://www.jules.fm/Logbook/files/win2008_linuxic_rc2_rhel.html) ,  "Building the Hypervisor, Network and Storage Drivers"

before  restart the machine , then, OS can not enter (Stopped after the Boot menu)

  • Hi,

I'm running CentOS 5.3 on Hyper-V R2 with no problems.  What do you mean you cannot enter the system?  Do you not have access to the VM? is it in running status?

    thanks,

    T.J.

  • I installed CentOS 5.3 on Windows 2008 R2's Hyper-V, it worked fine and stable.
