BizTalk 2016 not working with IBM WebSphere MQC <Data>Value cannot be Null. Parameter name: format</Data> RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all. I'm trying to upgrade from BizTalk 2013 R2 and IBM MQC to BizTalk 2016 and IBM MQC

BizTalk MQSC send port connecting settings are the same in BT 2013 and BT 2016.

When I enable the port we get this cryptic error. If you've seen this error and was able to fix it, please let me know.

The adapter "MQSC" raised an error message. Details "Value cannot be null.

  • Possibly they have introduced a new setting in the Adapter configuration that your binding is setting to null.

Have you gone into configure, made a small change, applied it, then reverted the change and applied it?  That may then set that new setting to default value that may then give a more meaningful error.

  • The issue ended up being a long password, over 12 characters. Apparently MQ doesn't like it that long. Once we removed the password from the send location (it wasn't required anyway), everything started working and error stopped occuring.
