MSDN Blogs: Email contains incorrect link to confirm email address change RRS feed

  • Question

  • I went to respond to an MSDN blog post (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/visualstudioalm/2017/02/25/mstest-v2-now-and-ahead). After clicking the "Add Comment" button, there's some text at the top of the comment box that says something like this:

    ================

    Email me@example.com (Click here to change Email) when someone replies to this comment

    ================

    I clicked the link, and it took me to my profile page. I updated my e-mail address and saved the changes.

    Then, as expected I got an e-mail with a link to confirm the change. It went something like this:

    ================

    If this is correct, please click on the following link to change it:
    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/wp-admin/profile.php?newuseremail=blahblahblah
    ================

    That the link is invalid. If you click on it, you get an error page which says:

    ================

    You attempted to access the "MSDN Blogs" dashboard, but you do not currently have privileges on this site. If you believe you should be able to access the "MSDN Blogs" dashboard, please contact your network administrator.

    ================

    The problem is that there's a "user" part of the URL path that's missing. The link should really look like this:

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/wp-admin/user/profile.php?newuseremail=blahblahblah
