Data Services in project RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a data service project and my BLL/GUI project. Everytime I start Visual Studio and run my app for the first time I get "an object not set to reference". I have to browse to the svc file to get it started. It's a minor annoyance but I was wondering if there was some way around it?

I set my startup project to client/gui project.  On F5, it loads the server side dev server automatically. Any chance you can break on exception to see what object is null?

  • Hello,

Their a lot's of options for starting web project in VS.

Select your web project and look at the properties (F4) check if the project is set to "Always Start When Debugging".

Then you can go to the project properties page and go to the web tab.

In the start Action you can specifiy a start URL. you can also specify a fix port number.

You may also install your service in iis so it will be easyier to managed outside VS.

    Hope it helps
