EnrollmentIndex in SkeletonData RRS feed

  • Question

  • The documentation on EnrollmentIndex of the SkeletonData structure is rather unclear to me, and as far as I can find none of the samples in the SDK actually use it.

Can somebody make its usage a little bit more clear? I have found an answer about the same subject stating in the beta SDK the EnrollmentIndex was not being used, but does this still apply to the lastest SDK at the time of writing (1.7)?

  • The dwEnrollmentIndex member of NUI_SKELETON_DATA is not used in Kinect for Windows.

The documentation says: "A value of zero indicates that the player is not currently enrolled."

Technically, this is correct (if not entirely helpful). In Kinect for Windows, the value is always zero, as players are never enrolled.

Enrollment is a concept in the Xbox Development Kit. Enrollment is not implemented in Kinect for Windows, but the structure member is still there for legacy reasons.

    Sorry for the confusion.
