Deactivation of the integrated IMU/accelerometers in the Kinect 2.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working on a student project that needs skeleton-tracking in the horizontal plane. As a result I need to change the orientation of the Kinect in order to increase the visible part of the human's body. But then the recognition fails. Is it possible to deactivate the usage orientational information in the skeleton tracking? Maybe there is a configuration flag that can be set for t his purpose? I'm looking forward to good news ;

  • There is no support for changing the orientation for the body tracking.

  • That is really bad. Maybe the orientation can be disabled at least. Of course the IMU ist used to improve the tracking, but especially the Kinect for Windows should feature some experimental set-ups...

    We have a set-up with a student hanging on the floor and thus we need the Kinect to have the student in its field of view. Otherwise it would be useless or at least necessary to implement the whole tracking by ourself.

  • Keep in mind skeleton tracking is done from the IR/Depth view which has an almost square aspect ratio.
