Can not find E-Book Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition: Build a Program Now!

Question

Hi I registered for MS Visual C# express.
I received a confirmation mail stating that I could download an E-book from the registration benefits page.
I can access this page, and download some benefits like icons or images.
But I do not find the E-book.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
CodeKid.

Hello!
I think the moderator has misunderstood you. As a registered "customer" you really get some free stuff like free e-book, discounts, and such things.
I have just installed VS Web Developer 2005 and found the same problem you described. I was told in an e-mail message from confirm@profile.microsoft.com that I can download the free stuff from a web page but there I didn't find the stuff.
You should look for text like this in the e-mail: "As a registered customer, simply go to the Registration Benefit Portal to download these and other benefits for free."
You have to click on the "Registration Benefit Portal" link and you are just redirected to the Microsoft Connect login site. There you should log in (or register to it with your Windows Live ID) and click on "Visual Studio Registration Benefits Portal start page" link in the menu on the left side. There you should find the e-book and the other stuffs you received.
If you cannot see the e-book there then logout from MS Connect Portal (the logout button is on the upper-right side of the screen) wait for some minutes and try to log in again by clicking the link in the e-mail. It takes some time for the system to give you the download links.
If you couldn't find the e-book then there is a real error in the system :-)))
I hope I helped you!
Regards,
Adam

Hi CodeKid,
I tried to install VC# 2005 Express and registered it on my side. After I registered it successfully, I was redirected to this website - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa700774.aspx and found the recommended books as follows:
- Programming in the Key of C#: A Primer for Aspiring Programmers
- Microsoft® Visual C#® 2005 Express Edition: Build a Program Now!
- Microsoft® Visual C#® 2005 Step by Step
- Programming Microsoft® Windows® Forms
- C# 2005 For Dummies
Then I clicked the recommended book - Microsoft® Visual C#® 2005 Express Edition: Build a Program Now! and found I couldn't download this E-Book for free. If you would like to get it, you need to pay for it. Try to check out this link for details - http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/8776.aspx.
Hope this helps,

Hi Mosomaci,
Thanks for your useful information. I checked my registration email for VC# 2005 Express and found the following text in my email:
As a registered customer, simply go to the Registration Benefit Portal to download these and other benefits for free.
Then I clicked the Registration Benefit Portal and was redirected to this website - https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=10&ct=1194571926&rver=4.0.1534.0&wp=MBI_SSL&wreply=https:%2F%2Fconnect.microsoft.com%2Fdownloads%2Fdownloads.aspx%3FSiteID%3D40&lc=1033&id=64416. After I logon it using my live ID and password, I could find the free E-Book named "Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition - Build a Program Now".
>>CodeKid:
Please try to follow Mosomaci's suggestions and logon the Registration Benefit Portal website using your live account and password to download the free E-Book - Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition - Build a Program Now. If you still could not find this E-Book or get any issues to logon the Registration Benefit Portal website, please post back with your exception/error message. Thanks.
