EV signed win10 driver backward compatibility RRS feed

  • Question

  • We needed to make a change to our .inf file (and nothing else) to fix a problem with our "officially signed" driver in the online "Microsoft Driver Distribution Center".

Is it possible to get the new driver back up to the "Microsoft Driver Distribution Center" and make it available to Win10 as well as prior versions (Win7/8, etc) by signing it with a new EV certificate without going through the hardware compatibility tests? We already passed the WHQL tests years ago. I'm sure it would pass again, but the 2-machine setup to do the tests is a bit of a hassle.

From what I've read, and seem to understand, all that's needed for Win10 is signing with the EV certificate. But a "new" driver (which this isn't exactly since only the .inf file has been modified), for "prior versions" need to pass the tests.
