installing Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a machine running WinXP/SP3

I have downloaded the Windows 7 iso onto a windows7 machine and created an iso DVD.

My WinXP box cannot read this DVD.  I put the iso image on a flash drive, and try to point my XP box to it at boot time, but it keeps reverting to booting from the hard drive.

Where should I ask for info on this problem?

  • When you first boot up your PC you will quickly see an option to enter setup or enter bios.  It will be one of the function keys, possibly F1 or F10 (it's different on different PC's).  Once in there you will need to change the boot order to place the DVD drive or USB drive before the hard drive. On some PC's, there might be a one time boot menu. As for burning the DVD, did you burn the ISO as an image and not just the ISO as a data file on the DVD?

Also, take a look at the USB/DVD download tool: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
