Easiest (and most dependable!) way to share IIS content across 2 (or more) Azure Windows 2016 Server VMs?

    Question

  • Easiest (and most dependable!) way to share IIS (web) content across 2 (or more) Azure Windows 2016 Server VMs?  I took a look at the Storage Section of the Azure Portal.  Wow, that is one clunky mess.  A one paragraph summary just doesn't cut it, I'm surprised anybody can find what they need in there.

Help me find what I'm looking for.

    A. Should I use Azure SMB File shares?

    B. Off-the-shelf replication software installed on each VM (Sync-toy, etc...)

    C. Install Storage Spaces Direct across 2 VMs and have volumes mountable across both VMs? (side question: Does Azure have a S2D solution ready to go in the marketplace, couldn't find one).

    D. Something else???  Again, this solution needs to withstand significant IIS web traffic.  How do the big boys handle sync across many different web servers???
