Currently, as far as I know, there has no such API to get the thumbnail by file extension, the StorageFile.GetThumbnailAsync is a way that we can accomplish this.

Besides, could you please tell us why you do not want to use the Storagefile class to help you implement it?

i am making displaying it from remote file server like ftp server.

It is not possible without the Storagefile.
