Dropdown Lists in Lightswitch RRS feed

  • Question

  • For the life of me, I can't figure out this simple concept.  I want to fill a regular style drop down list with a down arrow (not a + and search) based on a table that I will call sites.  It has these fields (Id,Code,Name) and i want to be able to allow a user to select one of those sites at any time.  I can get the +/search box fine, but I'd rather use a dropdown combobox..

Oh, and I don't want to use static values, I just want to use what's in the table.

    Any suggestions.

  • Jeff:

    Try this:

    1) Add a new data item to your screen of type "Site".

    2) Add the "Sites" table (or a query based on it) to the screen.

    3) Drag the Site property to your screen, this should give you a dropdown on the screen.

    4) For the "Choices" property, you should see "Auto" and your Sites table or query.  (This list you see in the Choices property will contain all queries based on the Sites entity.)

The screenshot is a sample from my Silverlight app.

  • The OP is talking about the HTML client where the lookup list has a confusing plus sign that makes a user think they might be adding something rather than selecting something.
