Boot up performance tuning on WES2009 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a WES2009 system in which i want to run kiosk application.

    Current configurations

1.I have only one partition on CF card(c:drive) and I want to put my application in this drive.

    Performance issues

1.Currently the bootup time is 50 seconds.I want to reduce it.

2.Hard Boot is done to shutdown the system. This has led to corruption of CF card.I want to protect the CF card in such scenarious

What are best ways to increase performance/Protect CF card and  this on WES2009.

  • 50 seconds is pretty good time.

    1. Check the BIOS to see if there are items like PnP that can be turned off to speed time through the BIOS.

    2. Turn of services not being used by the application.

    3. To protect the drive, the recommended set up is:

    • NTFS for the file syste,
    • Disable Disk Cache
    • use FBWF or EWF to protect the boot partition

  • Hi Sean ,

    Thanks for the help.

Currently i have enabled the FBWF on my setup.

Removed some services .Then also there is not much improvement in the bootup time.

  • Is the system always plugged in? How about going to standby?
