Windows Embedded Compact 7 limited to 2 FAT32 Flash partitions mounted. Why? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know why this is an issue or has Microsoft addressed this in some updates?

Our set-up partitioned our NAND flash into 3 FAT32 partitions, however the system hangs-up when booting. This does not happen if we only mount 2 FAT32 partitions and use DOS_4_FAT on the third one.

Our outsource team noted that this is not a problem with Compact 2013. However we will be shipping our current product with Compact 7 for version so we need to address this.

    Any thoughts? Thanks

Also we noticed that if we go with 1 DOS_4_FAT partition copying file from FAT32 to this partition will cause checksum errors.

So we see 2 possible workaround. Fix the checksum or fix the 3 FAT32 mounting. Which one can be addressed faster? Thanks

  • Can you show us any filesys debug output? What is the error when mounting the 3rd partition?

I've never seen any problem mounting multiple partitions, so I don't think this is a limitation of CE.
