Microsoft.mshtml.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • We'd like to use "Microsoft.mshtml.dll" in our application, it seems to be pre-installed on most winxp/vista machines, but it's not clear where it comes from. Is it deployed with IE 6.0/7.0, is it deployed with .NET framewok SDK? We have mixture of machines with IE 6.0 & 7.0 but everybody seems to have a copy of "Microsoft.mshtml, Version=7.0.3300.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" in C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\Primary Interop Assemblies\.

Can we redploy it with applications? I know that it's just a COM wrapper round the unmanaged interface, but we can be fairly confident that a version of IE is installed where as I feel less confient that this DLL will be installed on target machines.

Related to this, does the System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser vary depending on what version of IE is installed?

    Thanks and kind regards,
    Robert
