Storage Account was not found RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys.  Trying to follow this guide (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/linux/classic/create-upload-vhd?toc=%2fazure%2fvirtual-machines%2flinux%2fclassic%2ftoc.json)  to put a Linux VHD in to Azure.  I am stuck on step 3.  I have created storage, and a blob, but when I try to upload or do anything to the blob, i get the error 404 / Resourcenotfound / The Storage account '###' was not found.

This is strange, as when in the Azure portal, the cloud storage is reporting as fully provisioned, and I am given the address for the primary blob service endpoint, primary file service endpoint etc.

Am I missing something?  Any help is appreciated.

  • To clarify: 1. Have you specified the exact path?

Since its case sensitive so file name should be exact what was uploaded eg: test.GIF and if you say test.gif it won’t work.

    2. Do you have access to storage account? Either container is public or they are using valid Key/SAS to access.

  • The guide doesn't mention how to specify the storage account name and account key. The environment variables AZURE_STORAGE_ACCOUNT and AZURE_STORAGE_ACCESS_KEY should be set for storage data operations.

You can use this as a sample:
