If task is assigned to SharePoint group, automaic task alert is not working. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I have created a custom sequential workflow. This workflow creates a task assigned to a group named "Sales". Sales group have no. of users. When task assigned to Sales group, sharepoint doesn't send auto email to all members of Sales group.

    I check the same task list by assigning to a single user. Task alert is working fine if task assigned to single user.

    Please help me if any configuration or some workaround is possible?

  • Hi,

    By default , we cant send the email to all the users, those are present in the group. If the SP Group or AD Group has the Group Email, then the email sent the mail to group email ID.

    If you want to email individually means, just iterate the user and send the email to users.

    SPGroup grp = new SPGroup();
    grp.Users // This is get collection of users on which you can iterate

    Thanks, Ali Yasir http://www.sharepointstack.blogspot.in/

  • If you turn off the automatic email  on creation/assignment of new task  on the
    task list.
    Then in the SPD workflow add in a step prior to the collect statement of SEND
    EMAIL you can create any custom  email that you want.

  • Hi Indul,

    Yes you might be correct in your answer to any questions. But still let other mark it for you.

    In MSDN Forum this is not a good culture to self propose your answer. This has been observed that most of the time irrespective of your answer getting correct, there is not option left for Forum moderators than to delete your post.

    Request you again kindly do not self propose your answer, let others do it for you.
