Can Silverlight Interface with Native (C++) Code (on Mac OS X)? RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Hello,

I haven't been able to find answer to this question. While interfacing with native code may defeat portability but it provides a work around for show-stopper problems. Is it at all possible to communicate back and forth with a native application specifically in Mac OS X?

  • I highly doubt it (the story is the same on the PC). Primarily this is because Silverlight is sandboxed in the browser and does not contain any of the Interop assemblies that would allow it to call C-Callable DLLs.  What show-stopper bugs are you trying to get around with native C++ code?  (And what version of Silverlight are you using?)
