accdb to laccdb RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have an application in Microsoft Access.
When I launch .accdb files, access to Microsoft closes and the file is also converted to .laccdb
If I use the shift key, the file opens normally.
What happens? What can I do?

  • The laccdb is a lock file (it's just a text file in reality).  It is created whenever a database is opened and is supposed to be deleted when the database is closed, with the exception of crashes in which case you need to delete it manually.

What is the file size of the laccdb in your case?
What version, build no and bitness are you running (for example Access 2013 15.0.0511.1001 32-bit)?
Does your code compile without errors?
Have you compact your database recently?

  • As Daniel pointed out, your database is not being converted to an laccdb. the laccdb is just the leftover locking file. If you accdb file goes missing something else is terribly wrong and you will need to delve into repairing Access or whatever the cause is,

You probably should change the type of topic here from General Discussion to Question.
