SSIS Package Configurations - execute packages on different servers RRS feed

  • Question

    Hi,

I’m trying to use package config to determine what server to run the package on.

We have a test server and a production server. If the package is executed from a developers machine use the test server. If the same package is executed from the prod machine use the prod server. E.g.

    Machine

    Server

    User1

    Test

    User2

    Test

    User3

    Test

    Prod

    Prod

I tried using the computer name variable and this works for prod, because they are the same computer. But this doesn’t work for the users and test server because they are different computer names.

    Any ideas?

  • Use an environment variable on each machine that points to the correct location of the configuration file/database.
