While installing .NET Framework 4, PC reboots RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!

I am trying to install .NET Framework 4 as a part of Microsoft Visual Studio installation, but during installation, my PC reboots.

FYI, my PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

After i got back to windows, I downloaded the offline standalone installer ( dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe ), but the same thing happened.

The biggest problem is that I don't have an error code or something similar, but maybe there are logs or some other files that they may be helpful to you.

I'm looking forward to your replies!!!

  • Hi,

Please follow these steps below to reinstall .Net Framework 4.0.

    1. Update your windows and disable Anti-Virus software.

    2.Clear your %temp% folder.

3.Run the setup file as administrator.

If the installation fails, I need the installation log to analyze the issue. Please use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the latest installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

  • Thank you for your reply Lilia!!!

I followed the instructions regarding the error 0x80070424, some errors came up, but all the steps were completed.

Then I restarted my PC as i was told to do from the last fix. After the restart, i tried to run the .NET Framework 4 Client Profile, but it reported that "

Same or higher version of .NET Framework 4 Client Profile has already been installed on this computer.

    "

So, I tried again with the dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe and it worked like a charm!!! :D

Thank you so much for your help!
