Hand-Tracking from above RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to use the kinect from an above position to track hands of one person?

Or is there somebody who did something similar?

    Thanks

  • The Kinect SDK does not come with hand tracking functionality built in (the body tracker can only detect 3 hand states, open, closed and pointing).

You will need to build something yourself based on the raw depth data, which will be tricky especially when mounted above the hands. (fingers will easily get occluded by the hand)

Note that the Leap Motion sensor is specifically designed for this and it's probably you're best solution for achieving this.
